The Open Office: Collaborative or Chaotic?

The debate continues... are open offices more conducive to a collaborative environment among colleagues or do they lead to constant distractions resulting in a lack of focus and decreased productivity? Hmmm... maybe the question needs to be approached from a different angle... could it be that there is no one size fits all solution? Maybe an open office inspires collaboration and motivation in some employees, while inhibiting productivity in others!
